Faucet, aka “tap” in British english, has many different names in different trade or countries. such as “spigot”, “bibcock”. A fun fact: “faucet” is a north-american english. The first faucet in the world was back to 1700BC. Back then, the faucet was used in fountains and in public baths in ancient Rome.
Faucets are the essential element in the modern interior design. It showcases your personality. Some matte some shiny some silver and some golden. Most interior designers want faucets to be perfectly matched with the basin, mirror or bathtub. You dont wanna replace your faucet every year and you wont change it until your next home decoration. So, how a faucet is finished matters more than you think. The method of finish determines the durability and long-term appearance of your faucet.
Nowadays there are some common methods of faucet finishing like powder coating, electroplating(polished chrome), PVD(physical vapor deposition) and lacquer. Among all these finish methods, PVD creates a molecular bond to the faucet resulting in the most durable finish available today. And electroplated finish furnishes a brilliant mirror-like surface that is very durable.
Our MOPO faucets utilize electroplated finish with 5 layers which include 2 layers of Ni and 2 layers of chrome. Each layer requires specific thickness and smoothness so as to make sure our faucets withstand long term exposure to hard water and environment without changing appearance.
